- Benefits of Waxing for Mums-to-be -
Let's talk about the good stuff! There are some fantastic benefits of waxing while pregnant:
Feeling Refreshed and Fab:
Pregnancy comes with its own special glow… along with swelling, exhaustion and a lingering not-so-fresh feeling. But a little self-care and a good waxing session can go a long way. You’ll walk out of the salon with smooth skin, some extra glow, and a whole lot of confidence!
Longer-Lasting Smoothness:
Shaving can feel like a never-ending battle, especially when your belly’s forcing you to play peek-a-boo with your toes. Waxing offers longer-lasting smoothness, which means less time in the shower and more time to focus on feeling baby kicks and choosing nursery décor. Also, it dramatically decreases ingrown hairs and most importantly: It is safe to get waxed while pregnant!
No Ingrown Hair Drama For This Mama:
Your body is going through enough right now without having to endure the extra hassle of painful ingrown hairs and irritation. Waxing pulls hair out at the root, which reduces the likelihood of ingrowns (and leaves you extra smooth!).
So there you have it, beautiful soon-to-be moms! Waxing during pregnancy is safe and highly recommended by me and a lot of midwives – just make sure to have a quick chat with your healthcare provider first if there is any problems with your pregnancy.
- Questions ? -
Will it hurts more ?
For intimate waxing you may feel a little more sensitive as there is additional blood flow to the intimate area, mainly towards the end of your pregnancy. I recognise this and take extra time, care and caution to soothe the area and make sure you feel comfortable. The extra abundance of hormones might also mean you feel a bit more sensitive after the wax too but I will talk you through how to best take care of this at your appointment.

Can I book an appointment as close to my due date as possible?
Yes of course, this isn't a problem. We can wax right up until your due date, but I recommend schedule no less than a week before though so you don't get caught out. Also, please remember NHS recommend you stop waxing your pubic area or bikini line at least 1 week before your c-section birth to reduce the chance of infection.

How I will get into position ?
It can be a little trickier as you get closer to your due date but keeping you comfortable at all times is our top priority. I will keep you sat upright as much as I can but may also ask you to lay on your side, or even on all fours – this may sound daunting but it means I can be super thorough in removing any hair from the perineum and in between bum cheeks that may be difficult while you are sat upright. But please don’t worry, I can still make sure you get a super thorough wax even if it takes a bit longer than usual :)
I'm a bit embarrassed. Everything's changed down there, nothing looks the same. I also have piles, can I still get waxed?
To you everything might seem a bit different, but rest assured I've seen it all before. I have been pregnant too, so I do understand the embarrassment, but really - there's no need! All I want is for you to feel as comfortable as possible. Piles are one of the most common pregnancy symptoms, so I see them a lot. It's still totally fine to get a wax, Im fully skilled and trained in waxing around them.
