Is waxing safe during pregnancy?

For many people, waxing can continue during an uncomplicated pregnancy. Pregnancy can, however, change how your skin feels and reacts, so I adapt the treatment to you rather than treating every pregnancy appointment exactly the same.At Beautyland, I offer pregnancy waxing throughout pregnancy, including Bikini, Brazilian and Hollywood waxing. If you have a pregnancy complication, a skin condition, medication change, or your midwife or maternity team has advised you to avoid a treatment, please tell me before your appointment.

Can I have a Hollywood or Brazilian wax while pregnant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If waxing is suitable for you, you can continue having Hollywood, Brazilian and Bikini waxing during pregnancy.As your bump grows, what changes is often not the wax itself but how I position and support you during the appointment. I adapt the treatment as your pregnancy progresses, allowing for comfort, mobility and the needs of your changing body.

Can I have my first-ever Hollywood wax while pregnant?

Accepted Answer

Being pregnant doesn’t automatically mean you must already be an experienced waxing client. If your first Hollywood or Brazilian wax happens during pregnancy, tell me it’s your first time and I’ll explain what happens before we begin.Bear in mind that pregnancy can change skin sensitivity, so your experience may not be identical to somebody else’s — pregnant or not.First wax? → Read my First Time Waxing Guide

Does waxing hurt more when you're pregnant?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily.Hormonal and physical changes during pregnancy can make some people feel more sensitive, but there is no rule that says pregnancy waxing will automatically hurt more.Sensitivity varies between clients and can change at different stages of pregnancy. I work according to how your skin and body respond during the appointment rather than assuming pregnancy means a more painful wax.

When should I book my final wax before my due date?

There isn’t one perfect week that works for every pregnancy. Your due date is an estimate, babies have their own plans, and you don’t need to be freshly waxed to give birth.If you would simply prefer to feel freshly waxed around your due date, we can plan your appointments around your usual hair-growth cycle rather than trying to predict the exact day labour will begin.This is a fantastic place to avoid the nonsense some salon sites publish about a magical „pre-birth wax date”.

What if I need the toilet halfway through my pregnancy wax?

Then we stop and you go to the toilet. 😄Pregnancy appointments are about working with your body, not fighting it. If you need to change position, stretch, take a moment or use the toilet during your Beautyland wax, just tell me.

When can I have a Hollywood or Brazilian wax after giving birth?

Accepted Answer

There isn’t one date that works for everyone, but around six weeks postpartum can be a useful point to reassess whether you’re ready to return to intimate waxing — it isn’t an automatic green light.After a vaginal birth, any bleeding, soreness, tears, stitches or episiotomy in the treatment area need to have settled and healed before intimate waxing. After a C-section, the incision also needs to be properly healed, particularly if waxing would involve skin near the scar.Recovery is different after every birth, so if you’ve had complications, ongoing pain, problems with healing or you’re unsure whether the area has recovered, please check with your midwife, GP or other healthcare professional before booking.There’s no rush — your first postnatal wax should happen when your body is ready, not because the calendar says six weeks.

Can I have waxing while breastfeeding?

Accepted Answer

Breastfeeding itself does not automatically mean you have to stop your usual waxing routine. However, the postnatal period can involve hormonal changes and changes in skin sensitivity.More importantly, your body may still be recovering from pregnancy and birth. For intimate waxing, healing of the treatment area matters more than simply whether you are breastfeeding.

Can you wax over a C-section scar?

Accepted Answer

Not while the incision or scar is still healing. Once it is fully healed, I can assess the skin and the area you would like waxed. A C-section scar doesn’t mean you can never wax there again, but I won’t wax compromised, irritated or incompletely healed skin.
